AG-8Z Automatic Hydraulic Roll Grooving Machine (Second Generation)
During a recent visit to our factory, we carried out a new round of on-site photography for the Gruvmaster AG-8Z automatic hydraulic roll grooving machine.
This was not done for styling updates, but to reflect the current state of the machine after a series of practical upgrades. The AG-8Z has now entered its second-generation configuration, based on real operating feedback from long-term use.
AG-8Z is one of the more established models in our automatic roll grooving range. It has been widely used in the domestic market, where demand remains strong. As usage intensity increased, certain requirements around durability, mobility, and ease of operation became clearer—these directly shaped the second-generation design.
Basic Positioning of the AG-8Z
The AG-8Z is an electric hydraulic automatic roll grooving machine, designed primarily for batch grooving of steel pipes.
Its standard working range covers 2"–12", with the option to extend up to 16" when required.
Typical applications include:
· Batch pipe prefabrication
· Projects requiring consistent groove depth and quality
· Long-duration, continuous grooving operations
The design goal of the AG-8Z has always been straightforward: reliable, repeatable grooving without unnecessary complexity.
Why a Second-Generation AG-8Z Was Developed
The first-generation AG-8Z was already a complete and functional automatic grooving solution.
However, extended use in high-frequency working environments highlighted several practical needs:
· Improved hydraulic stability during long operating cycles
· Easier movement of the machine on job sites
· More intuitive reference when setting and repeating groove depth
Rather than redesigning the machine from scratch, the second-generation AG-8Z focuses on targeted structural improvements, while keeping the original operating logic intact.
Key Upgrades in the Second-Generation AG-8Z
Hydraulic System Optimized for Continuous Operation
The hydraulic system has been redesigned to better support long working hours.
This adjustment improves overall stability and is particularly suitable for high-duty applications.
Improved Mobility and Structural Stability
The machine body is slightly wider than the previous version, and the base wheel configuration has been updated.
Two telescopic push handles have been added, making the machine easier to move when needed, while still maintaining stable support during operation.
Expanded Pipe Size Capability
The standard grooving range remains 2"–12", with optional expansion up to 16".
This allows the AG-8Z to cover a wider range of common project requirements.
Wireless Remote Control Option
In addition to the original control method, the second-generation AG-8Z introduces a wireless remote control.
This provides greater flexibility in certain working conditions and can help reduce unnecessary movement during operation.
Depth Adjustment Screw with Scale
A clearly marked scale has been added to the depth adjustment screw.
This makes it easier to record, repeat, and standardize groove depth settings, especially during batch production or multi-operator use.
Typical Use Scenarios
The second-generation AG-8Z is well suited for:
· Users handling batch grooving tasks
· Projects requiring long, continuous operation
· Job sites where equipment needs to be moved frequently
· Applications where groove consistency is critical
Final Notes
The second-generation AG-8Z is not about adding complexity. Its updates focus on stability, usability, and long-term operating reliability, based on real working conditions.
The photos shown reflect the current configuration of the machine as it is supplied today.
