In pipe processing, standard grooves do not cover every application. Different customers may work with different pipe materials, connection methods, and processing requirements. In some projects, special groove profiles are needed, such as arc grooves, outward grooves, or other non-standard forming structures.

Recently, we customized an AG-8Z automatic roll grooving machine according to a customer’s actual processing requirement. The machine was modified for arc groove forming on metal pipe fittings. This was not simply a matter of replacing one accessory. The customization involved targeted design around groove profile, roller matching, and machine stability.
Redesigning the Forming Solution for a Special Groove Profile
AG-8Z is originally designed as an automatic roll grooving machine for batch processing. Its stable machine structure and hydraulic feeding system make it suitable for many standard grooving applications in workshops and job sites.

However, in this project, the customer did not require a standard groove. The required profile was a special arc-shaped groove. To achieve this forming result, our design team re-matched the related forming components based on the AG-8Z platform, allowing the machine to complete arc groove forming according to the customer’s requirement.

For this type of customized project, the goal is not only to “press a groove”. The groove profile needs to be close to the required shape, while pipe support, rotation, and feeding should remain stable during the forming process.
A Mature Machine Platform Makes Customization More Reliable
We selected AG-8Z as the base machine because it already has good structural strength and automatic feeding capability. For special groove forming, a stable machine platform is very important.

If the machine body is not rigid enough, or if the pipe rotation is not stable, it is difficult to achieve a good forming result even with the correct forming rollers. Customizing based on a mature machine platform helps reduce development uncertainty and allows the customer to receive a more practical solution in a shorter time.
This is also one of our key approaches in roll grooving machine customization:
use a mature machine platform first, then adjust the structure, rollers, or functions according to the customer’s processing goal.
